Senior School
Entry to the Senior School is by examination, but the Royal School accepts girls of a wide range of abilities. All are taught in small groups which mean that we can add value to their education and everyone is treated as an individual. The Royal School is proud to have come in the top 10 schools in the country for its value added score from KS3 to GCSE and celebrates the good results its pupils achieve.

The Royal School offers a full range of subjects at Key Stage 3. These include: English, Mathematics, Science, Art, Drama, French, Geography, German, History, ICT, Music, Religious Studies and Sociology. These can be studied through to GCSE. All subjects are taught in small groups by our dedicated and well qualified staff.

Science
All pupils take Science to GCSE. We believe that Science should be a "hands on" exercise in which principles are demonstrated rather than just described. To this end we have recently built dedicated and well equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Modern foreign languages - French and German
As Europe shrinks we feel it is important that our pupils have a grounding in two European languages which all study to KS3. Both languages are popular options for GCSE

Information and Communication Technology
ICT is studied by all pupils up to KS3 and many continue to study it for GCSE. In Year 9, all pupils follow the OCR CLAIT (Computer Literacy & Information Technology) course and take examinations in word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.

Since we are a small school, we are able to make good use of cross curricular links and pupils use computers for a range of different purposes. The computer room is always open at the end of the school day for pupils to use.
